What are the new features of Odoo 20? Revealed on September 24, 2026, at the Odoo Experience in Brussels, Odoo 20 places artificial intelligence at the heart of the ERP: AI agents capable of automating processes, creating a web page from a prompt, analyzing accounting, or suggesting forgotten hours on a timesheet. But AI is far from being the only evolution: CRM, sales, purchases, inventory, manufacturing, e-commerce, accounting, payroll, and point of sale are also involved.
Nuprod was on site. Here are the new features presented at the keynote, module by module, and what they could change for a company that uses Odoo on a daily basis.
To remember
- Odoo 20 revealed on September 24, 2026, at the Odoo Experience, Brussels.
- The common thread: integrated AI agents in the processes, not just a simple chatbot next to the ERP.
- Important nuance: timesheets do not fill out automatically; they are suggested by an assistant who analyzes the activity.
- Odoo becomes usable offline for field teams.
- A "light user" rate of €7.90/month is circulating around the event, but does not appear in the keynote itself — we are waiting for the official grid before detailing it.
- Production availability expected several weeks after the announcement.
Odoo 20, the essence of the keynote
Fabien Pinckaers presented Odoo 20 at Brussels Expo, in front of partners and clients gathered for Odoo Experience 2026. The main theme of the presentation: AI is no longer just an isolated assistant. Specialized agents intervene directly in the company's processes and automate actions based on natural language instructions.
The opening demonstration sets the tone: an order arrives by email. Rather than re-entering it, the user asks an agent to create the customer order, send a confirmation, and flag it for verification. The agent explains what it will do, then executes. Odoo then shows other similar scenarios: automatic assignment of a lead to the right salesperson, creation of a project after signing a contract, low stock alert.
Until now, automating a process meant configuring rules or developing a custom solution. The promise here is different: describe the process to the AI and let it build the automation. At Nuprod, this is precisely what we want to test: how far these agents can go on a real business process, what validations are still necessary, and in which cases traditional automation remains preferable.
Even before the business features, the interface is also changing: cleaner icons, white backgrounds, softer colors on labels and statuses. Not the most spectacular novelty, but on a tool used several hours a day, ergonomics matter.
CRM and sales: less data entry, more pipeline
CRM: a directory of 580 million entities
Odoo presents a directory of over 580 million entities, searchable by sector and geographic area to feed a pipeline. IP detection can turn a website visitor into a lead; connecting to Outlook or Gmail and scanning business cards automatically creates opportunities with their contact information. Another more operational evolution: switching from one sales pipeline to another in one gesture, with automatic attachment of new leads.
Sales: faster quotes, more visible margins
On the sales side, KPIs appear directly in the interface, with shortcuts between lists. Quotes are evolving: entire sections can be saved as templates and reused, with unit costs and margins displayed, taxes included or excluded with one click. The goal: to limit re-entry when a salesperson builds similar proposals.
Purchasing, inventory, and manufacturing: AI looks at your suppliers
During the keynote, Odoo asks an agent to analyze recent and historical purchases to identify suppliers to renegotiate. Replenishment can calculate minimum and maximum stock rules based on sales from the last 30 days and a desired number of days of coverage, with a supplier quality score calculated from order history. A new report highlights pending stock orders, bookable with one click, and highlights discrepancies between invoice and order. On the barcode side, Odoo now detects mixed receipts from multiple orders and offers to group them during scanning.
In manufacturing, continuous production allows for recording quantities directly from work orders: the next operation is released automatically, without waiting for the completion of the full order. The comparison of bills of materials facilitates the analysis of components and substitutions. Planning gains a Gantt view with manual rescheduling, the choice to keep or not keep safety margins, and a Kanban view with drag-and-drop to reorganize priorities between load stations.
Time sheets: an assistant, not an automatic entry
An important nuance compared to the initial announcements around the event: Odoo does not fill in time sheets on behalf of the employee. The assistant analyzes the device's activity in the background and suggests activities that could be recorded; the employee retains control over validation. For a service company, a design office, or any team that bills for time spent, this is potentially more useful than a simple stopwatch — it remains to be seen how accurate the suggestions are in real conditions.
Field and communication: Odoo works offline
On-site Service is now integrated into Planning: interventions organized by drag-and-drop, travel time taken into account, map view to locate teams on the move. Above all, Odoo announces fully offline operation — consultation, modification, and creation of records remain possible, with automatic synchronization upon returning to the network. For technicians or salespeople in poorly covered areas, this is an evolution to watch closely.
Discuss now brings together direct messages, channels, video calls, AI, Live Chat, and WhatsApp, with integrated polls and video conferencing accessible to clients without download or account. Calls can be recorded and automatically transcribed, each line referring to the corresponding moment. Telephony follows the same logic: configurable call flows, numbers available for purchase directly in Odoo, call transfer without interruption.
Website and e-commerce: create a page in one sentence
On the Website, the user describes the desired page and Odoo generates it from the prompt — the same logic applies to promotions, events, and product sheets. If a block does not exist, the agent can create a new snippet, including interactive ones, and intervene on SEO (keywords, titles, descriptions). For a small business managing its site in Odoo, the boundary between "using the editor" and "building custom" becomes much blurrier. Our complete guide on the module remains the reference for the existing: Odoo Website: the complete guide (link to insert).
On the e-commerce side: enriched product sheets (ribbons, crossed-out prices, attributes, variants), progress bar towards free shipping, choice of delivery date, filtering of pickup points, management of returns from the customer portal with downloadable label, and a new "payment on invoice" mode to confirm an order without immediate payment.
Point of sale: new dashboard, rethought restaurant
The POS receives a synthetic dashboard of activity. For the restaurant, the floor plan editor is completely revamped (decorative elements, table rotation, layout adapted to each device), a product can be temporarily deactivated with a gesture on the POS as online, and a note added to the payment from a phone or a terminal goes directly to the kitchen screen. For details on the POS module in restaurants, see our dedicated article (link to be inserted).
Accounting and payroll: ask a question, get an analysis
Accounting: an agent who responds about your numbers
The accounting agent answers direct questions — customer receivables, gross margin, cash flow, unpaid invoices — by retrieving the numbers from Odoo reports. Furthermore: reporting a suspected bank reconciliation error triggers an account analysis, an audit, and recommendations. Odoo also announces the connection of an external AI tool capable of reading and writing in the data, respecting existing access rights — a point we want to test as a priority, as accounting data requires particular control.
Payments are also evolving: select an invoice, click on Pay, confirm with the bank, without file export or import. Scheduled payment, bulk settlement of multiple invoices, and intercompany payments facilitated.
Payroll: simulations and calculations made easier
Payroll receives a dashboard with alerts, the ability to simulate a payslip before validation, the calculation of a package based on a target net salary, a percentage increase applied from the employee file, and the automatic integration of reimbursed expense reports into the remuneration calculation.
And also: marketing automation and industry configurations
Marketing Automation offers three ways to build a campaign: start from scratch, use a template, or describe it to AI, with the addition of deadlines and branches later. Odoo also announces more than 100 industry configurations, with new configurations added every month — the goal being to reduce the gap between a blank Odoo base and an environment truly suited to a profession.
And the "light user" rate at €7.90?
A "light user" profile at around €7.90 per month per user circulates around this edition, for collaborators limited to certain operational features like Barcodes, Point of Sale, Leave, or Scheduling. However, this information does not appear in the content of the keynote we analyzed. We prefer to wait for the publication of the official pricing grid before detailing the scope and rules of this profile.
What Nuprod takes from Odoo 20
The most interesting change may not be an isolated feature: it’s the way Odoo seeks to eliminate intermediate steps. An email becomes an order. A question becomes an accounting analysis. A description becomes a web page.
It’s promising on stage. What interests us at Nuprod is whether it saves time on a Monday morning in an SME — not in a demo. The next step is to put these features against real business processes before recommending their use to a client.
Should we migrate to Odoo 20?
Not in a hurry. A keynote shows a direction and features; it does not replace a test in a real environment. If you are already using Odoo, the right reflex is to identify the new features that address your concrete issues, and then integrate them into your thinking about the next migration — not to migrate under the pressure of the announcement.
